Two life long friends, Press1 (Yusuf. K Mouharrem) and Lenz Wan (Craig Bynoe) joined together in the summer of 2010 to form Camouflage Children.
Lenz Wan, 24, South East London spent early 2010 working on an acoustic guitar/rap duo with Nick Dare. Honing his skills over the London open mic circuit, tearing down many a venue in the process and honing his original style.
Press1, 24, South East London is known for taking part in countless MC battles held on the London underground rap scene, competing at Jump Off, Don’t Flop, Battlescars, Lyric Pad, Fight Klub UK etc. and has faced revered opponents such as Skinnyman, Professor Green, Verb T and Cruger.
After spending in excess of 8 years of rapping together they decided to enter a ‘Battle Of The Bands’ competition that took place in the o2 Arena – after successfully getting through the initial rounds they went on to take 1st place. By summer 2011 they have already performed shows at renowned London clubs and live music venues such as The Jazz Café, XOYO, Camden Rocks, Cargo, Vibe Bar and have supported acts including Magnetic Man, XO Man, Mikill Pane and DJ Snips.
On the 16th September 2011, Camouflage Children release their debut mix tape entitled ‘Bangalore Vol.1’. Recorded at the Grove Park based studio of D.S.D, the mix tape features an eclectic collection of tracks from over the past 8 months – genre’s spanning from trip hop to house – honest, witty, frank and uncut lyricism over film like sound scapes, dubbed out hip hop to class A rave music. Production credits include, Wizard, D.S.D, Yanaku, Sonny Molotow (An amazing talented 16 yr old producer from Slovakia), DJ Maintain and many more. Three songs from the mixtape, “Lemon Haze Serenade”, “Essex Girls” and “The Intro” have all had videos released for them clocking up in excess of 12,000 views to date.
